Daily Shell collects only what it needs to keep your learning progress available to you.
Guest practice
If you do not sign in, lesson progress, scores, and notes stay in your browser’s local storage. They are not sent to the profile database.
Google sign-in
If you create a profile, Google provides your name, email address, and profile image if available. Daily Shell requests basic identity only; it does not request access to Gmail, Drive, contacts, or other Google content.
Learning data
Signed-in profiles store your optional Linux distribution, Terminal Foundations completion or test-out result, completed lessons, attempt scores, hint and error counts, practice dates, time invested, and field notes. This data is used only to provide synchronization, relevant lesson notes, statistics, personal bests, and review suggestions.
Storage and security
Application data and sessions are stored in Cloudflare D1. Authentication is handled by Better Auth. OAuth tokens are encrypted before database storage, and production credentials are stored as Cloudflare secrets.
Site measurement
Daily Shell uses Cloudflare Web Analytics for aggregate page-view and performance measurement. It does not use advertising trackers or create a cross-site browsing profile.
Sharing
Daily Shell does not sell personal data, run a public leaderboard, or share learning history with other users. Infrastructure providers process data only to operate the service.
Export, deletion, and retention
You can download your learning data or permanently delete your account from Progress. Deletion removes the profile, Google account link, active sessions, attempts, scores, and notes. Guest users can export or reset the data stored in their browser.
